Delete your data

How to have your Saga Book account and everything in it removed.

You can have your account and everything in it removed. There is no button for it yet, so it is done by asking, and it is done properly.

How to ask

Send an email to [email protected] from the address you sign in with. That is what proves the account is yours, so a request from any other address cannot be acted on. You do not need to give a reason.

[email protected]

What is removed

Your sign-in account and your profile; every family tree you alone own, with its people, relations, stories, transcripts, recordings, photographs and history; and your membership of any tree belonging to somebody else.

What is not removed is a tree that belongs to another family and that you were only a member of. That tree is theirs, and what they recorded stays with them. If you want your name off their tree, ask them.

How long it takes

Within 30 days of your request, and usually the same week. You will get a reply confirming when it is done.

Take a copy first

Deletion cannot be undone. A tree can be exported to a standard GEDCOM file from its settings inside the app, which any other family-history program can read, and recordings can be downloaded from the story they belong to. Do that before you write, not after.

Removing only a way of signing in

If you connected Facebook or Google to your account and want only that link gone rather than the account, say so and that is what will be removed. Your tree stays where it is.
